In March 2025 firefighter Alethea Walmsley was called to a gorse fire at Rosenannon Downs in Cornwall. Alethea along with her team of firefighters went in to tackle the blaze, in that moment Alethea was captured on camera by her firefighter colleague Craig Allen in a very powerful image which made it into newspapers and social media.
Renowned Cornish artist Cathy Davies thought that this image should be immortalized onto canvas, and thats exactly what she did, not only to mark Alethea and her colleagues moment of bravery but to highlight what these incredible firefighters do.
